Iran condemns Trump’s insults against Leader, urges U.S. accountability over war crimes

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has issued a firm condemnation of recent remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump, calling his statements offensive, insulting, and a violation of international norms.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Iran’s Foreign Ministry has issued a firm condemnation of recent remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump, calling his statements offensive, insulting, and a violation of international norms.

In a strongly worded statement released on Saturday, the ministry criticized Trump’s inflammatory comments targeting the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. The U.S. president had claimed he thwarted an alleged plan by Israel and American forces to assassinate the Iranian Leader—comments Tehran dismissed as offensive and deeply inappropriate.

According to Mehr, the ministry denounced the remarks as a breach of international law and “an affront to a venerable civilization,” stressing that such rhetoric offends “hundreds of millions of Muslims across the region and the world.”

“Insults and threats directed at Iran and its revered political and religious figures will only increase global disillusionment with the United States’ short-sighted foreign policy,” the statement read. It added that such conduct contradicts Washington’s purported commitment to diplomacy and engagement.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry called on U.S. officials to abandon provocative language and inconsistent policy stances. Instead, it urged the United States to respond for its own violations of international law—particularly the military strikes launched on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.

According to Tehran, the U.S. entered the 12-day war on June 22 by attacking three major nuclear facilities in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz—moves that Iran views as clear violations of both the United Nations Charter and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Iran’s Armed Forces responded on June 24 with a retaliatory missile strike targeting a key U.S. airbase in Qatar. Shortly afterward, the U.S. declared a ceasefire, bringing the active phase of hostilities to a close.
